How the garment industry has transformed.
The Bangladesh of today is becoming widely recognized as a 21st century garment production power-house, with state-of-art production facilities and a highly qualified, specialized and motivated workforce.
At Denim Expert Ltd. our employees work at technically sound and well-equipped workstations, in bright, spacious and fresh air ventilated production floors. We manufacture contemporary, individual collections for the European and U.S. markets, meeting the customer’s stringent requirements regarding compliance, quality of material, production and processing as well as reliability of delivery. We operate with certified production processes and the highest social standards – this is the face of the Bangladesh garment industry in 2019. And all this just six years after the Rana Plaza disaster in April 2013.
In retrospect, that tragic event, that received world wide condemnation, was the ultimate wake-up call to our garment industry, that things had to change if we were going to build the reputation of our garment sector from the rubble of Rana Plaza. Our local textile companies have understood and have learned from their mistakes, seizing the opportunity to renew and redefine their way – away from being a traditional cheap mass production suppliers to being a modern, sustainably producing high-tech location.
Today’s garment manufacturers, like ourselves, are characterized by their highly motivated, process-involved and very technically astute workforce. Commitment, personal interest and a high level of willingness to embrace individual development opportunities through additional training, specialization or the acquisition of qualifications, characterize this new generation of employee. Bangladesh has a long tradition in the field of textile handicraft and is now proving to the international audience, that it is capable of producing much more than just basic apparel. Denim Expert Ltd. together with the rest of the Bangladesh garment industry, stand for the production of high quality product, produced in an ethical manner under the most sustainable criteria possible.
The founder and managing director of Denim Expert Ltd. MD Mostafiz Uddin, has always prided himself in his efforts to push boundaries and to contribute towards our nation’s progress in the garment sector. From the outset, he has been committed to advancing the garment industry in Bangladesh by championing technological advances and has always been a keen advocate of transparency, sustainable initiatives and environmental issues within the industry, culminating in the foundation of his own factory – Denim Expert Ltd. As he says:.
“International companies must understand that sustainable products can only be produced under sustainable production processes. Today’s competition is no longer based solely on price; but also on the sustainability of production.”
Bangladesh has made impressive progress over recent years, with expected Developing Country status expected to be conferred in 2024. In early 2017, Bangladesh overtook China in terms of a denim producing country and is now the largest denim supplier to the European Union. In addition, Bangladesh is the third largest jeans supplier to the US, after China and Mexico. Our success in these areas is proof that we, as a nation, are heading in the right direction and should inspire us towards greater achievements in the future.
“At present, Bangladesh has 30 denim factories for which $ 1 billion has been invested,” says MD Mostafiz Uddin. As a result, our country has quickly become one of the most important sources of denim products worldwide. International retailers continue to rely on Bangladesh’s good pricing policy and also our recognition of western trading standards, including compliance, quality and reliability.
We at Denim Expert Ltd. are proud to sell our products to customers in several European countries, including the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Spain and Italy. Our company produces men’s and women’s jeans for European and US buyers and we also sell our own product under the BlueXonly brand. In April 2018 we presented our first sustainable collection of men’s denim at Kingpins Amsterdam, demonstrating our technical scope when it comes to sustainable quality fashion.
